Genetic Testing

I am pleased to announce that I have completed the certification program in genetic nutritional analysis. As of August 9, 2018, I will begin offering genetic testing and counseling. In this newsletter, I will describe what genetic testing is and how it can benefit your life and the lives of your friends and loved ones.

Why do genetic testing?
Some are curious about their ancestry, others want to understand their susceptibility toward developing health conditions. Many want answers as to why their lab tests keep coming back “normal” yet they still feel tired and irritable. Others suffer from chronic digestive issues, even though they’ve tried every diet under the sun. Some can’t quite put their finger on why they are feeling wired, anxious, or depressed. Genetic testing can provide insight into why you may be experiencing these issues, and what you can do about it.

Personalized Medicine
Personalized medicine is the future of healthcare, and genomic testing plays an integral role in this shift. Let’s face it, the one-size-fits-all model of health care is woefully ineffective and we deserve better. This is largely why I got into Applied Kinesiology in the first place. I wanted to provide a service that is based on each individual’s specific needs, and assist the body to heal with all-natural methods. Now by combining Applied Kinesiology with genetic testing, we have the opportunity to look at your genetic blueprint and reinforce our findings with Applied Kinesiology. As such, therapy and dietary recommendations are highly specific.

What Secrets Does Your DNA Holds about Your Health?Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA is stored in all the cells of our bodies. It carries genetic instructions for our inherited traits such as sex, height, and eye color.

Enzymes are substances in our body that catalyze biochemical reactions. They basically take substance A and turn it into substance B. We all have genetic variants, or SNPs (Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms – pronounced “snips”), which are like gaps in our DNA. These variants can result in less than optimal conversion of substance A to B, and impair the body’s ability to clear toxins, digest properly, regulate blood sugar, cope with anxiety, maintain body weight, and much, much more.

For example, some studies have shown…

Genetic saliva testing enables you to measure your body’s ability to make and use the enzymes that are critical components of your health. This in turn can enhance the way you feel, and add years to your life.

How do I get started?
You will be given a test kit to collect a sample of your saliva.  This is then sent to a company called MethylGenetic Nutrition Analysis who uses a software designed to interpret the raw data from your saliva.  Within a few weeks, a detailed report is sent back that I will interpret and present to you during a consultation. For people living at long distance this can be done by phone.
