Chiropractic and Migraine Headache

Signs or Symptoms

Head pain that is moderate to severe, and associated with nausea and vomiting. There may be sensitivity to light, sound and smell. Symptoms can last for hours or for days.

Emotional stress and food sensitivities are the most common causes of migraine headaches. These forms of noxious stimuli can cause neck muscles to become tense and vertebrae to become misaligned or locked.

Chiropractic / Applied Kinesiology Approach to Migraine Headaches

As with all conditions, the entire state of health must be considered, not just the local area of pain. Migraine headaches are no different. Routine Applied Kinesiological screening is designed to uncover muscle imbalances, trigger points, and locked vertebrae.

In migraine sufferers, the muscles of the jaw may become over-contracted, resulting in aberrant motion, or clicking while opening and closing the mouth. Other times past dental work may be silently perpetuating neurological imbalances. Using A.K. procedures, Dr. Morrison is able to detect such impediments to the nervous system.

Finally, when food sensitivities, dietary imbalances, or nutritional deficiencies play a role, Dr. Morrison will intervene accordingly, eliminating the problem at the roots and preventing recurrence of migraines.
