Chiropractic and Pubalgia / Groin Pain
The pubic bones are part of the pelvic basin. Under certain circumstances the area can become extremely painful.
Signs and symptoms
Marked pubic bone pain on palpation Opening the legs may be painful Walking may be painfulCauses
There are many large powerful muscles that attach to the inferior part of the pubic bone that can become very taut in athletes and runners. This creates pain at the pubic bones where the tendon attaches. Lumbo-sacral and /or pelvic misalignment is another common cause of pubalgia. This is very common in women following pregnancy however it also occurs as a result of muscle imbalances of all types. Referred pain from the deep internal pelvic organs: bladder, uterus, and ovary. Residual neurological effects of past surgeries: inguinal hernia, varicocele etc.Chiropractic / Applied Kinesiology Approach to Pubalgia / Groin pain
Pubic pain syndromes respond very well to the manual therapies of Chiropractic because of the emphasis on creating muscular balance and aligning the skeletal system. The procedures are painless and relief is often instantaneous.
In some cases, relief is rapid and can be achieved in just a few short visits. Other times the causative factors are more complex and to resolve the problem, a more in-depth analysis and treatment plan is required. Each case is different and must be.
